Most people aren't aware that when you want to remove files from your PC, dragging them to the Trashcan will erase them eventually, but those files are easily recoverable, either by someone with access to your computer or when you dispose or sell it to someone else.

What you need is a tool to safely and securely wipe files you want completely removed. O&O FileErase is a tool which will do only one thing - allow you to select the files you want to remove, then use military-grade technology to make sure they are fully removed.

Use FileErase is very simple. Just choose the files/folders you want removing. Once you're happy with the results, move to the next stage using the wizard-driven user-interface. Here you can choose the type of security you want to use to wipe the data. On a basic level, you can overwrite with zeros. This is the quickest procedure but could leave the files as recoverable. If you want to make sure the files are beyond recovery, choose Highest Security which will wipe the files many times, but also take the longest time to complete. You'll see the estimated time below for each option.

FileErase is a commercial application, but essential if you want to sell your computer or upgrade the hard drive and really need to remove important data. However, if you want to erase your entire drive - probably more essential if disposing or upgrading is your intention - you'll need to move up to O&O SafeErase Professional.

Includes a 1-PC licence.

Performance Issues?

Most system performance issues are often a result of other software clashing with your brand new software. For instance, security software can clash with a background process, such as a system maintenance tool or defragmentation software. Another cause of system slowdown, is a result of two software applications performing a similar task. As an example, Windows includes a firewall switched on as a default. Your new security suite is likely to include a firewall. You only need one firewall running. In this example, try turning off your system firewall.

Uninstalling Your New Software

Occasionally you may need to either temporarily or permanently remove your new software.

On a Windows computer, go to the Control Panel and choose Programs and Features. Locate the program within the list, then click it to highlight it. Finally, click the Uninstall button at the top of the list and follow the instructions to remove the program from your PC.

On an Apple Mac computer, using Finder, locate the Applications folder. Within the Applications folder, find the name of the application you wish to remove. Simply drag the icon to your Trash icon in your dock. Empty the Trash to remove the files from your computer.

Still Having Problems?

If you cannot solve your system performance issues or are struggling to remove your software, we advise contacting the software manufacturer. If you placed an order, see the section in the order which states Support options. Alternatively, go to the Contact Us page to contact store support directly.
