From software bugs to viruses or simple human error, there are plenty of reasons why important files might accidentally be deleted from your PC. The entire process can take only a fraction of a second. And if the files aren't in the Recycle Bin, then in theory at least, your irreplaceable data could have been lost forever.
Don't give up just yet, though - there may still be hope. Iolo Search and Recover can scan any type of storage device: hard drives, memory cards, USB keys, cameras, music players, CDs, DVDs and more. It's able to recover pictures, movies, music, emails, anything from a few individual files to the entire contents of a folder or drive. And this can work if the drive has been formatted, repartitioned, even if it's physically damaged.
The technology behind the restoration process can be complex, but fortunately Search and Recover uses a simple wizard-based procedure which keeps you well away from anything tricky. If you've lost some important family photos, for instance, all you have to do is choose the "Pictures & Movies" option, and point the program at the drive or device where they were stored. It'll then scan the drive, looking for anything which might be left. And finally you'll see a list of thumbnails showing everything it's uncovered: select your photos and they can usually be restored in just a couple of clicks.
And even if you're carrying out a more general search for several file types, iolo Search and Recover does its best to help. Its StrongScan technology uses an in-depth knowledge of file structures to recover data which other products might miss. And iolo's SmartScan then has the intelligence to ignore the irrelevant junk files which clutter the reports of undelete programs, allowing you to quickly zoom in on the information you actually need.
Search and Recover also includes a series of handy drive tools, which for example allow you to create an image of a hard drive, search for lost partitions, and securely delete confidential files to ensure no-one else can recover them. These can be very useful, but right now they're only for 32-bit systems, unfortunately. If you're using 64-bit Windows then they won't be available (although the regular undelete options will work just fine).
Includes a Whole Home 1-Year license for the entire family.
